Project STAIR 2.0

Supporting Teaching of Algebra: Individual Readiness (STAIR) is an Institute of Education Sciences funded project developed to provide support to educators of Grades 6, 7 and 8 students who experience difficulty with math. However, we think you will find these materials can be helpful with any student who has foundational math difficulty.

Our materials are focused on three main areas: progress monitoring, evidence based intervention strategies, and data based decision making.

In our research, we worked collaboratively with educators and district stakeholders to:

  • Increase educator knowledge about data-based decision making through the use of a data-based individualization framework
  • Increase educator use of evidence-based practices for math intervention
  • Increase use of formative and diagnostic assessments to inform decision making
